The Stone Tract
A surah of guarded things — the Quran preserved, the heavens sealed, the sincere protected — that closes with the most intimate consolation the Quran ever speaks to the Prophet: you have been given enough. Worship until the certainty comes.
The Guardian
Five movements: preservation → creation signs → Iblis → ruins → consolation
The Quran is preserved. The disbelievers will wish they had submitted. Even if a gate were opened in the sky and they were ascending through it, they would say their eyes were dazzled. Rejection is not an intellectual problem — it is a condition of the heart.
Constellations guarded from every expelled devil. The earth spread out with everything growing in measured balance. Winds sent as pollinators. Provisions descending from inexhaustible treasuries in known measure. And the quiet culmination: 'We give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritor.'
The surah's dramatic core. Adam made from salsal — dried clay that rings when struck. Then the breath of God's spirit. Iblis refuses because he cannot see past the material. His strategy: beautification. His limitation: the sincere servants are beyond his reach. The straight path leads to God Himself.
Ibrahim's guests bring news of a son. Lot's people are destroyed. The Companions of the Wood are seized. The people of Al-Hijr carved homes into mountains and believed stone walls made them secure — the blast took them at morning. Each nation was given signs; each refused; each was taken.
Everything before was preparation. Forgive with gracious forgiveness. You have been given the seven oft-repeated verses and the great Quran. Do not look at what they have. Do not grieve. Lower your wing to the believers. We are sufficient for you against the mockers. Worship until the certainty comes.
